4th of July card #3

Again looking at Pinterest for Ideas on making some 4th of July cards and came across this idea.

I took what I had on hand and made two of them, I did not prefer this card after I was finished but its done and made but not a favorite.

I am using a dot embossing folder by Stampin UP and ran it threw my big shot.

I used a heavy weight white card stock cut to 4 by 5 1/4.
I am using some heart and star framelits from Stampin UP to cut out some silver glitter paper and some Lawn Fawn pattern paper.
The red pattern paper is also from Lawn fawn.

I cut it to 3/4 inches tall by 4 inches wide and put some foam on the back.

If I were to do this card again I would cut these to 1/2 inch wide.
I used Tombow Mono glue to adhere the embossed dot mat to the black heavy weight card base.
I used some extra pattern paper to decorate the inside, I added a white mat to the inside to be able to write your message.
I used foam and tape runner adhesive to attach the heart and star.
Finished Card.

Some basic supplies I use I purchase from Hobby Lobby or Micheal’s with coupons or on sale, you can also shop your favorite online craft stores.

4th of July card #2

I wanted to make a few more simple 4th of July cards so I took to Pinterest again and found this design.

I am using some Stamps of Life card stock that I have collected from their card kits but can also be bought seperately.

The red and blue are perfect for flag colors.

I am using a Fiskars border punch, I cut strips to size 5 1/4 wide by 1 inch tall.
I am using a black card base.

I am also using some sticky tape to adhere them.

I start of with the a red strip and add it almost to the top, leaving just about 1/8 to 1/4 inch of black on the top and sides.
I also add just a solid piece of white card stock on the bottom.

The sticky tape needs to be near the top so that you can easily slide the other pieces right under.

They will not go all they way to the top just right under the scallops, I tested this with out adhesive before I began using adhesive to make sure they were sized accordingly.
The blue square is 2 1/4 inches by 2 1/2 inches.

I measured from the top of the red to just above the scallops of the second red, I used a thicker sticky tape along the blue piece.

I punched out nine stars per card with a Stampin UP star punch and used some small adhesive circle foam peices to adhere them.
The stars are some silver glitter paper that you can purchase at your favorite craft store.

I took some extra blue and red to decorate the inside.

I also added a 4 by 5 1/4 inch white mat to the inside of the card.
Finished cards.

Stuck?! Sketch Challenge June 1st 2016

So in between card making I have been dabbing around in my Scrapbook Albums as well. I work on about 10 cards then work on a few layouts, they could be from my Christmas Album, Every Day Album or our Vacation Album.

I looked up scrapbooking sketches on google and found Stuck?! Sketch and really like the new one they put out for June.

To Check out Stuck?! Sketch challenge CLICK HERE.

I kept this photo because I was originally trying to cut out a Surfboard and I just could not get it to work so I opted for the circle like the sketch.
I am using Stampin Up designer series paper that unfortanitly is all retired, I choose colors that would match the photo.

I used a 12X12 Soft Suede piece of card stock for the main mat.
After adhering all the pieces I flipped it over and added some foam to the back.
Using some black Thickers from the Hobby Lobby brand and yellow chipboard letters that I got a while back at the $1 spot at Target.
When we first knew and acually paid for our California Vacation back in July 2015 I began to buy things along the way.

We went in October 2015.

These chip board stickers came from the $1 store and they will be fantastic for the rest of this part of the album which is breakfast with friends pocket style.
Finished Layout

Here is one of those chip board stickers, I added foam to the back before placing down on the banner.

They yellow chip board letters, I believe I purchased them at Christmas time from Target $1 Spot.

Close up of the Black Thickers.

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #283

Over at My Favorite Things their sketch challenge had me wanting to recreate a card I saw on Pinterest a very long time ago.

If you would like to play along with the sketch challenge CLICK HERE.

I started off by using a Crumb Cake card stock base and matching ink along with a My Favorite Things music back ground stamp.
Here I am just trying to decided which oval die from My Favorite Things will work better.

I go back and forth for about five minutes before I decide.
I end up using the smaller oval of the two I had shown above.

I am using Very Vanilla card stock with Always Artichoke ink by Stampin UP along with there Retired Wonderland stamp set.

The top one is my first test stamp to see how it works out and go from there with stamping more trees on each side.
I then cut out six Vellum ovals using the same die and used a Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow stencil along with some embossing paste to make a nice background.

Set those aside to dry, they took less then 10 minutes.
While I waited for the Vellum pieces to dry I cut out the trees.

I also stamped the sentiment on Crumb Cake card stock with the matching ink and made them in to banners.
I decided to go with some metallic gold thread and wind some up to make a messy mess.

Used tape to apply it down and the foam on the back of the tree piece will also help keep them down and in place.
I added a line of sticky strip to the center of the stamped trees and placed the stenciled Vellum piece on top.

The banned I added some foam to the back and placed it on top of where the sticky tape shows

CAS(E) this Sketch #175

In the mood for some Red White and Blue, I found over at CAS(E) this Sketch the recent one #175 was perfect for a 4th of July card.

I started off with some 110 pound heavy weight black card stock from Micheal's and added some adhesive backed paper to the back of it.
Using a variety of dies.
The 4 came from My Favorite things.
Not sure were the July came from either Paper Trey Ink or My Favorite things.
I started off with some Stampin UP T&H dies but changed to Lawn Fawn Dies for the T&H.
I took a Simon Says Stamp and embossed it with Hero Arts white embossing powder on the same 110 pound black card stock.
I used the Stampin UP star dies and some Die Cuts With a View glitter 6X6 paper and cut out three, one in red, white, and blue.

Using Tombow Mono glue I added some to the corners of the red and blue star like the picture is shown,

I also added some to two opposite points of the silver star.
The adhesive backed paper makes it so easy to adhere these pieces to the glitter paper.

Once you get the were you want them make sure to press them down to really get the bond of glue to glitter.
Here is the before and after of the T&H.

They needed to be smaller so I just used my paper snips to cut them down.

I have two pairs of paper snips, one really good pair and one for things like adhesive paper.
I made the happy into little banners and used liquid glue to attach them to the glitter paper.

To hold them down while they dried a bit I used a clear block.
I over did the foam but this is pretty much the only thing on the card so I wanted to make sure it did not sag.
Finished Card.

4th of July card #1 2016

I found THIS CARD on pinterest and wanted o recreate it but also make it a little different.

I started off with some Micheal's 110 pound white card stock cut at 4 inches by 5 1/4 inches.

I am using Stampin UP Work of Art stamp set and Real Red ink and Pacific Point ink.
Just using a scrap piece of paper to block off the side because the line stamp is longer.
Here is what it looks like finished.

To glue the glitter paper down I used some liquid glue called Tombow Mono.
I am using some silver glitter paper that I had in my stash, you can get glitter paper from many different companies.

I cut it at 4 1/4 by 5 1/2 and then cut out the inside because lets face it glitter paper is not that cheap, you will not see the inside anyway.
I left this picture in because after I had finished stamping I really did not like how the bottom stripes were not evenly spaced so I flipped it over and started again.

I am using foam on the back of the panel.
I also used the a tiny star punch by Stampin UP to make the stars on the flag using more silver glitter paper.

I used some tiny not so thick foam circles to pop up the stars.
Finished
