Our December Story 2016, Day 1

I worked on Day 1 of Our December Story 2016 and found it fun and easy.

I added a little jazz and pop with a shaker pocket add on.

Here is what I started with after looking threw my shoe box of 3X4 and 4X6 cards.

I am using Design D
I typed up my journaling on my phone.

I remembered to use the return key to start some phrases on the next line.

This gave my journaling after printing easier to cut.
Using my Fiskars paper trimmer with the wire guide to easily cut the strips down.

I printed on Heavy Weight White card stock.
I lined them up and still had to make one extra cut because the one near the bottom was running into the pattern on the 4X6 card.

I used Tombow Mono Liquid Glue to adhere the strips, putting a clear block on top to help them dry flat and not curl up.
Some red gems to cover the berries and add some texture.
I love how this looks, I find typeing the journaling is my favorite but I know I need to also add my not so great hand writting as well so a good combination of both threw out the album helps.
I left this in because I had to scrap it, I tried to trace the snow flake with Vevo Pearl Pen and it was a no go mess of all messes.
I found a red with small polka dot patterns and used that along with some already die cut snow flakes from a Micheal's their brand pack from last Christmas (2016).
Again leaving this in but those alphas were just too small for this card and I couldn't get them straight.
These are bigger and have a fun corrigated texture on them.

The downside was there was no #1 so I just used an I for the 1.

Upside was they were easier to keep straight.
I found a nice pattern with trees to add to the top and bottom, it kind of ties this card in with all the others.
I used some copper thread with these Santa foam stickers to add some interest.
Some fun shinny stickers to add to this 3X4 card.
I stamped in Daffodil Delight and So Saffron ink from Stampin UP while using Stamps of Life popcorn2stamp stamps and cordinating dies.
 I made a little pocket with a extra 8 1/2 by 11 folder I had and cut slightly bigger then a 3X4.

I taped the edges so the filling would stay inside and it would give me a guide for my filling.
I added some doodlebug designs bumblebee sequins because they looked like the colors of popcorn.
After sealing it with the We R Memory Keeps tools I removed the washi tape and trimmed the edges.

I also added some strong double sided adhesive towards the top.
 Here it is attached.
Added a Cosomos Cricket word phrase sticker along with a 3D elf sticker.
All Done

CAS(E) this Sketch #237

The Sketch for CAS(E) this Sketch #237 was a little challenging I thought but after seeing the samples and other entries I think I figured it out.

Would you like to play along, CLICK HERE.

I am starting off with some Vellum card stock and a 'grateful' stamp that I will emboss with gold powder.

Don't forget to use your powder tool before stamping in the versamark ink.
I am using some water color paper that I heavily added water all over.

This is the width for two die cut leaves, I pre measured as not to waste my paper.
I started off with an orange color.
 Added some red.
 Then some brown.
 Then some gold splatter.
This was my second water color piece which I did not like.

I think the color was too concentrated.

I scrapped it in the garbage.
THIS was my first one which I loved loved.
Using a stitched leave die I cut out the leaves.
A stitched rectangle die with some cream card stock.
Again that same gold splatter.

I went back and forth add the splatter or don't add the splatter.
Tiny bit of glue behind the vellum card stock embossed sentiment.

I left it longer then my card so I can also fold it back and add some tape to the back as well.
I tucked the leaves under the Vellum putting some liquid adhesive on the part of the leave that would be behind the Vellum.

I snuck in a dimensional under the leave to give it a bit of height.
All done, I am very pleased with how this turned out.

Side view, you can see the shadow behind the leaves.
