Our December Story 2015, Day 13

I decided to tackle Day 13 of Our December Story 2015 and I found this a little challenging because this was Alexis Birthday and it was not very Christmasy.  The only photo that had a Christmas vibe was Polka Dot Stripe decorateing the bananas.

Would you like to see all my completed Layouts for Our December Story 2015, CLICK HERE

I decided to make day 13 in a yellow thicker font and add it to the Polka Dot Stripe photo.

These are from Hobby Lobby.
I used some wood veener snow flakes from my stash and took off the foam circle on the back and used my Versa Mark ink pad to add clear sticky ink to one side.  I covered in a Yellow embossing powder and heat set until melted.  I did this two times.
 Finished snow flake.
I used some pattern paper from Hobby Lobby and a Becky Higgins 3X4 die to cut out a yellow stripe piece.

I used some Project Life cards as well and trimmed off a little from each side so that the yellow and white stripe would be a nice border.
I decided to use Stampin Up card stock and make a Lego embellishment.  I also used the Owl Builder punch to make the circles and some small foam circle to add some dimensions to the Lego.
I took two more wood veneer from my stash and colored them as well with embossing powders.
Tombow Mono Liquid Glue to adhere all the wood veneer to my layout.
The lighting is not great but here is the finished layout.

I used some phrase stickers from my stash to compliment some of the photos.
I love the little touch of yellow to bring in the whole page.  and the pink as well.  This layout was yellow and pink heavy.
The white with black type are from a Tim Holtz sticker pack.
I think adding little touches of elements to each page bring the whole layout together.
Here is a close up, we are in papa's car and have her eyes coverd because she does not know we are going to a hotel.
Alivia loves her picture takin and so I thought useing an orange color powder would match her vest and googles.

And her photo shoot appeal.
Here are my home made Lego embellishments.
Just some word stickers give a nice touch to photos with out overpowering them.
Close up of Polka Dot Stripe and the colored bananas.

Pumpkin card using Thoughtful Branches

I was looking threw stamp set and found Thoughtful Branches and realized that I have not used the set in a long time so I then went to Pinterest and found THIS idea.

Using what I had I recreated the card.

This is how I store my loose Stampin Up scraps, in 8 1/2 by 11 page protectors in a file system under my desk.

My full sheets are in my wired paper racks.
I die cut the branches part separetly two times from Pumpkin Pie card stock.

I stamped and die cut the leaf and trunk images from Cucumber Crush ink and card stock.

I also used Stampin UPs mini dimensionals on one of the branch die cuts.
I decided to go with Bazzill Almond Cream card stock for the mat of the card, sized 5 1/4 by 4.

I used a embossing folder from Stampin Up, one with birch trees.
After layering the branch die cut that had the dimensionals onto the second branch die cut I used Tombow Mono Liquid Glue to adhere to the embossed card mat.
I used some Hobby Lobby white/cream twine and wrapped around the card and taped in the back.

I used a 1.5 inch punch to cut out the sentiment and a tiny hole punch for the hole for the twine.
All done, such a simple but impactful card.

I added more of the Bazzill Almond Cream to the inside of the card and stamped anouther leave in the corner.
The card base is also Cucumber Crush and I added detail to the back as well.
I used a green envelope from Hobby Lobby.
I added the leaf stamp to the front and back.

Easy One Layer Pumpkin Card

I found this set of Four Halloween cards on Pinterest and wanted to re create the with what I had on hand in my stash, I liked them most because they were cute and kid friendly but also very flat and basicly one layer.

The Four card inspirtaion, CLICK HERE

Here is the first Version, a cut Pumpkin Patch type of card.

I am using my Hampton Art Stamp Perfect tool only because I am making four of each design.

I am also using 110 pound white card stock as the mat, it is sized 4 3/4 by 3 1/2.
I am using Pumpkin Pie and Emerald Envy ink from Stampin Up.

Along with Versa Mark Black Onyx ink.
I purposly wanted a whimsical theme/feel so I stamped crooked and off center.
I thought a nice leaf border around the edge to bring out more of the green would be nice.
I was origonaly going to have a 5 by 3 3/4 mat but decided I wanted more of the leaf showing so I trimmed down a 1/8 inch off each side.
I decorated the back of the card.
And also the inside, this mat is 5 by 3 3/4 and I do like that.

I realized after I was done stamping that the sentiment was wrong but I am going with it, I think it adds a fun touch to the card.

Especially with his frowny face on the inside.
All done.

An orange envelope and simple sentiment on the front.
And the same three faces on the back spaced out.

DIY Halloween Earring Holder

Now that both girls have pierced ears our earring collection has grown and Pivia our youngest really enjoys cordinating her outfits with her earrings and since our current storage is just pull our tuperware drawers I wanted a better way to display and store them.

I searched Pinterest and found many different ideas and the one I like best for storing our Holiday earrings used a material from Darice called Plastic Canvas, I found it at Micheals.

I started out with yep you guessed it $1 store 4X6 picture frames.

I choose a simple black design but you can go with any design or size just make sure your earring material will fit inside.

I used some wire cutters to grab the prongs and wiggle them out.

Discard or reuse the other materials.
I left this is because I thought it would be fun and cool to use this but let me tell you it was supper hard to glue down and messy and very loose.

I am glad I choose to purchase 6 frames in my trip to the $1 store.
You want to measure the inside of the frame, I mean from ledge to ledge.

Mine was 5 3/4 wide by 7 3/4 long.
Hot glue around the edge and place inside.

I did this in sections and waited tell cooled and dry between sections.
Here is a close up to show edge to edge.

Its not pretty but it works and this is the back any ways.

As long as it is secure it will be fine.
 Here it is all done.

There are different sizes of the Plastic Canvas but I choose this one for the holes.

It says 7 on the tag with the price sticker.
Here are the earrings front the front.
And here is the back with the backings attatched.
Here is the front with the hang on earings.
 Here is the back.
I saw these at Hobby Lobby and had to pick up a package, new this year.
A better photo.
I decided to embosse the wooden pieces but you could easily paint, use marker, or color them with ink or leave plain.
Useing a lid to a box makes it easier to not burn myself while embossing the wooden pieces.
I also embossed a sheet of white card stock in yellow to add the holes in the wooden pieces.
Tombow Mono Liquid Glue to attach.
Here is the finished project.

Close up, I love how the yellow makes the wooden pieces pop.
 Close up.
